Creepy and dark games become the norm this October

Wicked Tales: Dark Red

Players at online casino sites across the net won’t be terribly surprised to see a wealth of creepy and dark-themed slots debuting this month. It is the same every year. Each October, the internet’s finest (and not so finest) casino software providers eagerly unveil a range of scary slots for the masses. October may have only just begun, but we’ve already started to see dark-themed slots aplenty debut.

Ignoring Playtech’s Pumpkin Bonanza, which is certainly Halloween themed, but more child-friendly in nature, what can you expect to find out there at casino sites right now?

Novomatic recently launched their Tales of Darkness: Lunar Eclipse slot, for starters. This game is played over 6 reels and 10 lines and features a voracious vampiress who loves hanging around graveyards. The slot excels in delivering random bonus icons during its free spins feature, and those random icons can pop up on the second and fifth reels. They have the power to turn all symbols caught between those reels into the same icons, too, meaning big wins are virtually guaranteed in this game.

Also debuting this October is Microgaming’s Wicked Tales: Dark Red. It sounds as though Microgaming is planning a franchise here. This is no standard Little Red Riding Hood themed slot, though. The sexy title character meats a ferocious wolf in what is arguably the darkest retelling of the tale in the casino world. A wheel-based bonus can deliver all manner of bonuses, too, with plenty for you to stick your claws into.

Also unveiled this month is NextGen Gaming’s Ever After. Like Microgaming’s effort, this is a dark retelling of a popular fairy tale, this time Snow White. This 5-reel, 243 ways to win game is jam-packed with free spin bonuses, Mirror Mirror features which offer symbol upgrades wild reels and plenty more besides.

Lastly, Yggdrasil Gaming’s Wolf Hunters is howling to be played. This is arguably the most complex slot to debut in a long while. It involves hunting werewolves and upgrading hunters. Symbols have health and XP, and these can result in symbol upgrades, and all manner of other goodies in this 5-reel, 20-line slot. If you like free spins aplenty and wild bonuses galore, Wolf Hunters might just be the treat that you’re looking for this Halloween.
