IGT are quite possibly one of the oldest casino software (and hardware) developers going. Any enthusiast will know that IGT are responsible for a sizeable number of the land-based slots you can find in Las Vegas and other brick and mortar casinos across the globe, but they may not be aware of the presence IGT Casinos have in the online casino world.

IGT’s glorious history

From its small roots in Nevada, IGT rapidly cemented their place as the world’s leading provider of land-based slots. However, they were late to the party when it comes to online casino games. In fact, IGT didn’t start focusing on online casino games until 2005. They snapped up WagerWorks and began producing a few original slots online, but it was only when IGT started to port their land-based hits to the digital world that they really gained a following in the online casino sector.

Today, their reach isn’t particularly long, with around 75 major online casinos offering their games (far smaller than the 400 hundred and odd casinos offering Microgaming or NetEnt software) but many of their games are far more memorable than rival developers’ titles since they have a history in the land-based world.

What is worth noting about IGT is that they do not really fully power any online casinos. Instead, they largely offer their suite of games at casinos which already get their back-office software from another provider.

Because of this, it is exceptionally difficult to find any true, bona fide IGT casinos powered solely by them.

IGT’s slots and games

IGT largely focuses on online slot machines, although they have been known to dip into the table games genre from time to time. You can find a few scattered table games, but with bigger software providers out there offering a larger selection of games in this genre, IGT table games are often all but forgotten. The same cannot be said of their online slot machine games.

Most of IGT’s major slots are those which they are ported directly from the land-based world. We’re talking about Cleopatra and Siberian Storm, here. Many IGT slots run on the Mega Jackpots network, which is a progressive jackpot slot network owned and operated by IGT, which can provide players with the chance to win hundreds of thousands of pounds. Other top slots include Da Vinci Diamonds, Wolf Run and White Orchid, to name but a few.

Unfortunately, just as IGT was slow to get involved in the online casino world, they have been equally as slow to get involved in the mobile casino one. Mobile casino gaming is on the rise, and although some IGT slots can be played on your smartphone and tablet’s web browser, IGT games are not exactly what we would call mobile-friendly. As for mobile IGT casinos? These simply do not exist – at least not yet.

Who plays at IGT casinos?

Despite having a considerably smaller market share of the online casino world than their rivals, IGT is one of the more widely spread casino software providers. You can find casinos offering IGT software in Europe, Asia, South America and even North America. The online casinos of New Jersey (for instance) are known to offer games from IGT, just like their land-based casinos do.

Once again, since IGT doesn’t really power casinos on their own software (there are but a few examples), and they largely throw in their games with other developers’ software, you can potentially find casinos across the globe which can offer you IGT games. IGT casinos (such as they are) will often be powered by Net Entertainment (at least for their back-office needs) leaving IGT free to focus on developing quality slots and casino games for said sites.

IGT casino hallmarks

As mentioned, it is difficult to find an IGT casino, although they do exist. As with any major casino software provider, IGT casinos all carry certain tell-tale marks that make them stand out from their rivals. For starters, most IGT casinos are mobile-friendly, although the particular selection of IGT games often won’t be. Instead, IGT employs other casino software providers to issue fully mobile-friendly games for its users.

IGT casinos tend to be licensed out of Alderney and the United Kingdom. It is not impossible that they will be licensed out of Gibraltar or Malta, though, and those open to US players will almost certainly be licensed out of New Jersey. IGT casinos are pretty basic in terms of the languages and currencies they accept. Most only deal in English (there are a few exceptions) and US dollars, euros or British pounds sterling.

IGT casinos are not known for their long-list of banking options. Most of these sites will readily accept deposits made using Maestro, MasterCard, Neteller, Skrill, VISA or VISA Electron. A few will even accept wire transfers and a handful of other options, but most don’t really tend to stray far from those boundaries.

Customer support at IGT casinos tends to be fairly efficient, but not always free of charge. In fact, most IGT casinos will charge you a fee for calling customer support via telephone. However, free options are often available alongside toll-charged telephone, too. Players can get in touch with customer support via live chat or e-mail. Again, as with all IGT casinos, the options vary from site to site.

Disappointingly, IGT casinos are not big believers in promotions and bonuses. This doesn’t mean you can’t claim any – many IGT casino websites offer bonuses – just that they aren’t particularly thrilling when compared to other casino sites. You will certainly find a welcome bonus (usually a match deposit one) spread over the first three deposits you make, and even no deposit bonuses (small cash or free spins) are not unheard of. Other promos such as monthly offers, loyalty deals and refer-a-friend offers are likely to go begging. Wagering requirements can sometimes be a little on the steep side at IGT casinos, and almost all IGT casino sites require players to enter promotional bonus codes to claim any deals and bonuses that the casino may carry.

IGT Senior Vice President, North America, Jay Gendron Inducted Into the Lottery Industry Hall of Fame

Jay Gendron, the Company’s Senior Vice President, North America, was inducted into the Lottery Industry Hall of Fame as a member of the Class of 2015. IGT Reno earned a LEED Gold certification. LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) is a green building rating system that addresses the impacts of a building’s lifecycle on the environment, which is based on conserving energy and water, providing resources for healthier and safer occupants, all while lowering operational costs. The Reno facility is projected to save approximately $1.5 million over the next 10 years by maintaining LEED standards.
